Clean Paint from Carpet

Basically - getting paint out of a carpet is a b****, but this is how you have to do it.

It works best if the paint is wet.
Find out if its water or oil based. If water use water, if oil use paint thinner.
Dump this onto the carpet and use a scrub brush. Soak it up with rags or use a wet vac (This works best). Keep doing this and the paint will get thinner and lighter.

You probably wont be able to get all the paint out but it will be unnoticeable.

That "oops" you heard during that painting project in the other room is bad news - latex paint can ruin a carpet. Act fast or you may have to permanently place a potted plant in that stained spot.

Steps
One - Remove as much wet paint as you can by blotting with a clean, white, absorbent cloth; work from the outside in to avoid spreading the stain.
Two - Sponge with cool water and blot again (still from the outside in) until you've removed as much paint as you can.
Three - Mix one-teaspoon mild dishwashing detergent in a cup of lukewarm water.
Four - Blot with detergent solution, using a clean, white cloth, working from the outside in.
Five - Let the area dry completely and vacuum.

Tips & Warnings
If you've allowed a latex paint stain to dry, contact a professional carpet cleaning service to see if it can remove the stain. You may have to live with it.

Clean paint from carpet - My kids dropped red tempura paint on our new carpet. I tried a carpet-cleaning machine, but some of the red dye was in the fiber of the carpet. I used Goo Gone lightly over the stain, and then I used GOJO hand cleaner. I used the carpet-cleaning machine to apply more soap and water and then vacuumed the spot with the machine. To my relief, it was totally gone! You can't tell there was ever any paint on that spot.

Gojo does it all - Gojo hand cleaner will take dried paint (oil-based or Latex) from the worst carpet spot. Just put some on the spot and let set for about a minute. Rub with clean dry cloth. If stain is still there repeat again until stain disappears.

Cleaning up paint from carpet with Dawn dish detergent - I just wanted to let you know that it really does work! I spilled paint on my new carpet and frantically searched the Web for cleaning tips. I came across this website and used the tip that had been suggested by another member. I rushed out to the store, bought some Dawn and started blotting at the paint (which was dry by the time I got back from the store). It worked like a charm...Thanks for the tip!

Clean paint from carpet - Absorb as much paint with a dry towel as possible. Pour a large amount of Dawn dishwashing soap (it does not have any lanolin) in a bucket & add a small amount of water. Soak a clean towel in the soapy water & apply to the spill. Wring out & repeat.
